This instrument was partially developed in-house in the Research department at NI headquarters in Berlin during the summer of 2013. In other words, it’ll play the first two beats of the bar twice.
But for the second two beats, when the line is moved to the -2 position, it will actually play the previous two beats.
GROSS BEAT VST STUTTER EDIT FULL
For the full paper, please see my MFA thesis. When you press play, Gross Beat will play the first two beats of the bar as usual, following the line’s position at the top. There are several places where I discuss the operational principles of Touchpoint at length, including this 2014 ICMC/SMC paper. All of the modern workarounds for proper DAW sync are implemented as well, so feel free to use it as a Reaktor plugin. The "TouchEnv" control on each slot effectively acts as a note on message for triggering this synth. The Lemur interface also has controls for this synth. To that end, the ensemble also includes a rudimentary subtractive synth which is normalled as its input by default. This instrument can be used with any audio input. Consider it a reaction to plugins like The Finger, Turnado, Stutter Edit, Gross Beat, etc. It is an exploration of thinking about serialized multi-effects processing as a form of sound synthesis unto itself. Touchpoint is my MFA thesis in the Music Technology program at CalArts in 2014.

GROSS BEAT VST STUTTER EDIT UPDATE
It may recieve an overhaul some day (perhaps an update with proper serialization in Reaktor 6!), but the original Reaktor Ensemble and Lemur layout have been provided in their alpha state. It is provided as-is, with some machine-specific paths and deprecated patching techniques preserved. You have explicit control over these effects, compared to other glitching “mess things up” plugins that often do things randomly. This software is abandonware. This plugin is especially handy if you want to do some ‘remixing’ (like stuttering or scratch effects) on your mix without having to make a bounce-down of that mix first.
GROSS BEAT VST STUTTER EDIT HOW TO
“Generator” parameter – these are rules on how to dissect your loops.“Bars” parameter to set how many bars the loop originally is (up to 8).“Bisyness” parameter to control the weight of random to be applied low values equals a small chance of change and larger values more.“Slices” knob to control how many slices you want to cut the loop in to.“Random” knob to control what initial value the randomizing has.It is sort of an automatic controllable recallable loop slicer. KerrStinn changes your loops randomly by moving slices of it around and/or applying effects to the slices according to rules that Shuriken call “generators”. KerrStinn is a slicer, glitcher and loop dissector. KerrStinn is a free sampler and slicer and stutter and glitch VST plugin developed by Shuriken.
